Oh Ji-ho: Before, during, and after the fairy-tale wedding

During his pre-wedding interview, Zio
admitted that he was so happy to become a bridegroom that he could hardly sleep
and still felt surreal while getting groomed at a salon. He felt as if he was getting ready for a
movie shooting. When asked whether he
was ready to spend the first night as someone’s spouse, Zio jokingly remarked
that although he had a hectic shooting schedule, he still had the stamina and
that the bride did not have to worry. However,
he regretted that he did not have the opportunity to formally propose to his
betrothed, adding that he would do so during their honeymoon.
Shortly before the wedding, Zio released some
wedding photos to share his happiness with his friends and fans. The loving bridegroom ensured that the
beautiful bride had the opportunity to wear a variety of gowns, from a
glamorous off-shoulder princess gown, lacy bareback, frilly swanlike dress, to
a colourful hanbok.
When the bride readily agreed to have an
underwater wedding shoot, Zio complimented her as a strong and courageous
individual. Zio stated that the
underwater shoot was done because he wanted the wedding to be a memorable and
meaningful experience. The project took
five days to complete, requiring the loving couple to practise scuba diving and
demonstrate their good swimming skills.
Their hard work was richly rewarded as the
photos turned out to be breathtakingly romantic and earned admiration and
praise from different parts of the world.
Their underwater kiss of the century was reminiscent of his 2005
melodrama whereby Zio’s lead character kisses his bride while snorkelling
during the honeymoon.
Although Zio planned to have a simple wedding
in April 2014, it was attended by 700 guests, reflecting the actor’s immense
popularity. A close actor friend
teasingly predicted that Zio would have many children because he appears as
virile as a bull, much to his wife’s amusement.
Another actor friend reminded Zio that marriage is akin to the weather,
implying that it is not a bed of roses all the time.
Zio started his wedding speech with a happy
note, but burst into tears when he recalled that his fiancée had agreed to
marry him without a formal proposal.
Nevertheless, he was happy to bid farewell to bachelorhood in order to
upgrade his status as a married person and spouse.
A year after the wedding, Zio attended a talk
show and shared some of his thoughts on marriage and friendship. When asked whether he knew that she was the
right one to spend the rest of his life with, Zio elaborated his thoughts with
a bright smile. Some married men used to
tell Zio that he would feel something when he met the right woman, which he
usually dismissed as baseless; however, he admitted that he did feel something
special the second he met his future wife.
When asked whether she felt the same thing, Zio laughingly revealed that
he had yet to ask her.
It was widely known that Zio’s wedding was
unusual as he did not kneel and ask his fiancee’s hand in marriage. Actually he had planned to propose to her on
the set; he was filming on a particular day and had brought her along. Further, his manager had set everything up
nicely; however, the shoot was cancelled at the last minute and Zio’s proposal
plan did not materialize. Zio had
arranged to play a special video with everyone present, but the opportunity
never arose as he became very busy with his work.
It is wonderful that Zio has finally found
the love of his life and got married in April 2014, but does he have to give up
anything? Zio readily agreed that he has
gained countless things; however, like many people, he has to let go of some
personal freedom after tying the knot.
As a bachelor, Zio used to rule the club
scene with his close friends. He used to
set himself a schedule and went clubbing at least twice a month. Sometimes, he went every week. He enjoys clubbing because it is fun and an
effective stress reliever. After
settling down for a year, Zio had only gone clubbing with his wife twice – once
on Christmas Day and another time on their after-wedding party.
Zio commented that if celebrities go clubbing
too often, rumours would start to spread and blow out of proportion. One of his close friends observed that Zio
used to be very active and free-spirited; however, Zio has less free time to
socialize nowadays, adding that he did struggle with it (loss of freedom) a bit.
After getting married, Zio noticed that
something has changed. He felt that he
has lost his sex appeal after getting married; he used to believe that he had a
sexy-looking face. Zio explained that
when he was single, his popularity with female fans tended to fluctuate; they
care about him even less now that he is off the market, which is a pity. The affable actor did miss something after
marriage, a close friend teased.
Zio has some close friends whom he has known
for almost 20 years. Although he is not that "well-connected" Zio is proud to have well-established relationships. One of his old friends portrayed Zio as a knowledgeable person who exhibits a keen interest in many fields. Additionally, broadminded Zio has the tendency to correct
others, including the coach.
Another close friend described Zio as a smart
individual who excels in sports, being a great hitter and great in the field
too. He implied that Zio should be
flexible as sports is not all about brute force or speed, stressing that
flexibility is the core of every sport; be it baseball or golf, the player
should relax. He commented that Zio
tends to be stiff and is all about brute force, but the friendly actor
merely smiled at the comments.
Yet another close friend noted that Zio is a
generous individual who picks up the tab most of the time. He spends a lot on his friends; he looks
after younger people and looks out for older people. Zio is also known for his generosity toward his
co-actors and shooting team as he would present them with something of
practical utility at the end of the project, for example, jackets or backpacks.
Finally, Zio thanked all his close friends,
who happen to be his baseball team-mates; he hoped that their friendship would
last for another decade at least.
